more akin to an occasional rant ;)

Here is a first installment of my occasional epiphanies, in fact, this particular epiphany happened just this evening. I’m an avid blog follower, but am a somewhat hesitant writer, so I’m just going to tell the story.

I had the most fun evening I’ve had in ages earlier tonight. I met a couple of friends (who I'll name only if they permit), old friends from insane undergraduate years, at a chi chi book launching of ‘golconde’ by Vir Mueller Architects and some guy who couldn’t make it. I loved Vir Muellers work, which was presented in the beginning- very cerebral, but fun and young- I want a practice like that someday!! This was followed by a presentation about the book, 'golconde' which included two great excerpts. After, there was snacks and free booze, :D

Post energetic networking and plugging of upcoming seminar*, and meeting some cool people, said friends and I headed to 'the deck' at the IHC., where more fun ensued.

We have some animated discussion about the IPL, which I have zero clue about, and so much else. The evening ended, most excitingly, with a 'no need to further confirm' 3-way date to watch LSD on saturday at 6 pm at DT saket.

So, this much anticipated 'epiphany' happens on my drive from IHC to Gurgaon via MG road. I was driving down aurobindo marg and got to the IIT flyover, I had a green light and was driving at 60, just as I get to the intersection, this scumbag piece of shit jumps the light, driving right into me! I had to break without having a chance to even make sure that no one was behind me! Anyhow, escaped another opportunity for my 'tragic death in a car crash' fantasy. haha

As I drove away, the picture of composure, I started imagining that the light jumping jerk was actually pulled up by a traffic cop who saw the whole thing. As I drove away, I kept picturing that the guyis pulled over and grilled by the cop. True to form, the scumbag tries to hand the cop some 'bakshish'. The cop looks at his captive, looks at the vehicles HR license plates, and says, in the proper punjabi jaat accent, "betta ye dilli hai, yahan ye sab nahi chalta'. He bends over to write an actual 'challan', "somwar ko court ajana". Wouldnt that be mindblowing!!

Or what if there were autowallahs who would actually have this conversation:

AutoSearcher: bhaiya jee, saket challenge?

Driver: Challiye le jata hoon.

Potential passenger: kitna lenge?

Driver: aap kahan ke rehane wale hain?

Perplexed potential passenger: main chennai se hoon, par aapko kya matlab?

Driver: Sahab, yeh Dilli hai, yahan auto meter pe chalta hai, hamen kya pata kitne paise lagenge?

I want a Delhi like that!!

The idea is simple, a media campaign that showed the people of delhi as righteous citizens full of pride in being delhiites. Would a campaign like this encourage people to change their behavior and reverse the rampant culture of corruption everywhere?
